These batteries are ideal for small spaces with no ventilation. Being sealed, these batteries remain unserviceable. Gel Cell and Absorbed Glass Mat are the two types of VRLA. Gel Cell contains gel electrolytes and is resistant to heat, climate, spillage, physical shock and electrolyte evaporation. Absorbed Glass Mat is a thin fiber in the battery that functions perfectly without spilling.

Car batteries are also grouped according to their specific sizes. While manufacturing the car, truck, SUV, the manufacturers consider the group size of the battery to fit into the car. In India, the group size of the batteries ranges from 70, 74, 75 and 78, while the international group size battery starts from 41, 42, 47, 48, and 49. The most commonly used group size battery has standard or top post battery fitments which are easy to replace.
